Your FOID code
Your FOID code lets someone — a bank teller, a landlord, a shop — check that you're verified without you reading out your NIN or BVN.
Show your code
- Go to Overview and press View my FOID code.
- A QR code and a link appear. Let the other person scan the QR code, or press Copy link and send it.
- The code lasts 10 minutes. When it says Expired, open it again to get a fresh one.
What the other person sees
A Credential check page with:
- your first name and the first letter of your last name (for example Ada O.),
- your credential state (Active, Under review, Downgraded or Revoked) and what it means,
- ticks for Face (liveness) verified, NIN verified, BVN verified, Email confirmed, and Over 18 (only when your NIN is verified — your date of birth itself is never shown),
- the time of the check.
They never see your NIN, BVN, date of birth, email, phone or address.
Is it safe to share?
Yes, for the 10 minutes it's valid. After that the link stops working ("This FOID code has expired or isn't valid. Ask for a fresh one."). If you think someone kept it, simply wait — it expires on its own.
