Create your FOID

You need an email address you can open and your 11-digit NIN.

Sign up

1. Open FOID and choose Create your FOID (on the log-in page), or go straight to the sign-up page.
2. Fill in First name, Middle name (optional), Last name, your NIN, Email address, Password and Confirm Password.
   • Use your names exactly as they appear on your NIN — FOID checks them against the NIN record later.
   • As you type your password, a checklist shows what's still missing. See password rules.
3. Accept the terms and press Sign Up.

You land on your dashboard straight away.

Confirm your email

Until you confirm your email, a purple bar at the top says "Your email is not verified — you are in view-only mode."

1. Open the email from FOID and copy the 6-digit code.
2. Press Verify on the purple bar, enter the code and press Verify Email.
3. You'll see Email verified! — your account is now fully active.

Didn't get it? Check spam, then press Resend code in the same window. The code expires after 30 minutes.

WARNING

Accounts whose email isn't confirmed are deleted automatically after 3 days.

Go to My Identity and verify your identity. That's what lets you share a verified FOID with banks and apps.

Logging in later

Use Log In with your email and password. You can also turn on fingerprint or face sign-in and two-factor authentication.

Forgot your password? Choose Forgot password on the log-in page, enter your email, press Send reset code, then enter the code and your new password.
